physioFUSION FAQ

Question 1. What is so good about your new physioFUSION ™ programme?

Answer Our unique physioFUSION programme combines 4 treatments in one session so that we can get you better up to four times faster than traditional methods. It also allows us to assess your problems more holistically so that we can look at your whole body instead of just treating your neck or back.

Question 2. Can you give us some background on yourself and how you developed the physioFUSION ™ programme?

Answer I began treating patients 13 years ago using traditional physiotherapy methods and have treated hundreds of patients over the years. Although I had great success, my patients often returned 3 to 6 months later complaining of similar injuries which lead me to search for additional ways to improve their long term outcomes. That was when I first discovered pilates. Over the years, I have developed a unique combination of pilates, physiotherapy, personal training and and yoga-like stretching exercises to help patients to understand how their body works and to help them to fix themselves while getting fit at the same time. The programme has been extremely popular, because in addition to receiving physiotherapy treatment, they also get to become stronger and more flexible throughout the rest of their body as well.

Question 3. Why are you so passionate about this?

Answer This approach has proved to be much more effective than traditional physiotherapy alone and usually gets people better up to four times faster. It has had much better long term results and most importantly, has been much more enjoyable for all of my patients and has enabled them to get fit at the same time as they are getting fixed!

Question 4. What are the top 3 things someone should know in order to be successful with the physioFUSION ™ programme?

Answer In order to be successful with this programme, the most important things that you will need to be are:-

Question 5. What's the best way to get started?

Answer The best way to get started is to call to arrange a complimentary session with one of our therapists. During this session, they will teach you how to use your body more efficiently, how to breathe, and how to set your core. The first session is very gentle and is mainly to give you a better understanding of how your body works so it should not cause you any pain. In fact, in most cases, it gives our clients considerable pain relief. After this session, the therapist will advise you of whether you would benefit more from physiotherapy, pilates or our unique combination of 4 treatments in one.

Question 6. How long does it take to become proficient?

Answer As far as pilates goes, Joseph Pilates used to say, "in 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you'll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you'll have a whole new body". But with our physioFUSION programme, we generally see quite dramatic changes in pain and improvement in posture within the first 10 sessions. Actually, it's a bit like driving a car. It takes a different amount of time for each person to learn, but the main thing is that once you learn, you know how to do it for the rest of your life which means if ever you get injured again, you are much easier to fix! Also, just like driving a car, you can watch someone drive for 20 years and still not be able to drive, but once you learn to drive yourself, you know how to do it for the rest of your life.

Question 7. Will your methods work for anyone, in any area?

Answer I would like to think that what we offer would be of benefit to everyone, no matter how bad their injuries are. Unfortunately, when we're born, we don't get an instruction manual on how to use our body. If we did, we would be much easier to fix when our bodies become injured. I would like to think that what we are giving you is effectively an instruction manual for your body to help you to fix yourself now and for the rest of your life.

Question 8. How much experience does a person need to begin with?

Answer Absolutely none - if you can imagine your body to be like a building, many people go the gym to make the outside of their body look good, but if the foundations of the building aren't straight and stable, this will just make the building more likely to fall down. Also, if you go to the gym and do 100 sit-ups for example, and use your neck and back 90% and your stomach muscles 10%, you'll get 10% abdominals and 90% a sore neck and back which makes our job as physiotherapists even harder to do. What we actually do is teach you to relax the outside muscles and replace them with the inside ones so that we rebuild you from the inside out. We teach you to use the correct muscles in the correct order so that for example you get 100% abdominals and no sore neck or back and you get the results you want 10 times faster.

Question 9. If you had one secret to give about physioFUSION ™, what would it be?

Answer The biggest thing that many patients learn is that often the harder you try, the harder it gets. So what I try to teach people is not to try so hard to relax in the first place.

Question 10. What are some of the common problems that people experience?

Answer Many people try too hard to fix their injuries by tensing up all of their muscles at once because they think that if they don't move anything it won't hurt. Then they find that when they do want to move again, they can't as their muscles have become shorter and tighter.

Question 11. What are the precautions to take?

Answer The first few sessions are very gentle and are aimed at teaching you how to use your body more easily. If anything, they should help to ease not flare up your pain. If any of the exercises are painful, you should tell your therapist immediately so that he/ she can show you how to make them pain free.

Question 12. Some people think it sounds too good to be true - is there a catch?

Answer Not at all. I like to think of our programme as a step by step instruction manual for how to use your body which is similar to an instruction manual for how to drive a car. The beauty is that it may take you a few lessons to learn to drive, but once you learn, you know how to do it for the rest of your life.

Question 13. What sort of things can someone do to remain successful with this?

Answer The best advice I could give you is to apply the rules that we teach all day, every day of your life so that you come to use your body correctly for the rest of your life even after your programme finishes.
